Bengaluru: The BlueBird-6 satellite, one of the heaviest commercial satellites at 6.5 tons, arrived in India from the United States on October 19. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans to launch this Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre using its LVM3 rocket, although the exact launch date has not yet been determined. This mission, led by the Texas-based telecom company AST SpaceMobile, is anticipated to take place between November 2025 and the first quarter of 2026. The company seeks to deliver direct-to-device mobile broadband connectivity, addressing the digital divide in areas with inadequate terrestrial networks.
