Hyderabad (Telangana) [India]: The logistics industry in India is experiencing significant changes due to the rise of electric vehicle (EV) logistics, digital technologies, and sustainable practices. Valued at USD 228.4 billion in 2024, the logistics sector is projected to grow to USD 357.3 billion by 2030, all while addressing the challenge of reducing carbon emissions. EV fleets offer a cost advantage, operating at 15-20% less per kilometer than diesel vehicles. As businesses seek more efficient and sustainable transportation options, Jassper Shipping is poised to reach ₹1,800 crore in revenue by FY30 through a three-part strategy.
This strategy includes integrating EV logistics, adopting digital technology for improved operational efficiency, and forming strong partnerships across energy, finance, and charging infrastructure sectors to enhance ecosystem synergy and drive sustainable growth. As the industry shifts towards greener operations, government initiatives like PM E-Drive are supporting companies like Jassper in adopting sustainable practices. Launched with a budget of approximately ₹10,900 crore in September 2024, PM E-Drive aims to promote EV adoption in the commercial sector and establish charging infrastructure. The initiative emphasizes public charging and compliance with stricter production standards. In its roadmap to ₹1,800 crore, Jassper Shipping plans to electrify urban logistics with e-2W and e-3W vehicles, exploring battery swapping, leasing, or subscription models for affordability.
Collaborating with charging point operators and renewable energy companies will ensure a reliable supply. Leveraging AI and machine learning for route optimization based on traffic, load, and battery status, Jassper will utilize a real-time dashboard to monitor vehicle usage and energy consumption. The company is committed to embedding sustainability into its core operations, aiming for significant carbon footprint reduction by FY30. Pushpank Kaushik, CEO & Head of Business Development at Jassper Shipping, stated, ‘The future of logistics lies in sustainable energy and advanced technology. Our goal extends beyond transporting goods; we aim to advance the industry responsibly.’ Jassper faces challenges such as fluctuating battery material costs, driver readiness, and the capital-intensive nature of EV fleets.
To address these, the company plans to diversify battery supply sources, provide driver training, and explore various funding options, including green loans and public-private partnerships. With a data-driven approach and strategic partnerships, Jassper Shipping is on track to transform traditional maritime operations into a modern, tech-driven green logistics leader.
