New Delhi, May 7 (). Of the 384 candidates contesting for the 28 assembly seats in Karnataka’s Bengaluru region, 92 have declared criminal cases against themselves. This information has been revealed in a new report.
According to Karnataka Election Watch, Bengaluru Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), which analyzed the self-affidavits of 384 out of 389 candidates contesting in 28 constituencies in the Bengaluru region in the Karnataka Assembly elections. It was found that 92 candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves.
As per reports, out of 384 candidates, 57 have serious criminal cases against them. Among major parties, 14 out of 28 candidates of BJP, 19 out of 27 candidates of Congress, 9 out of 24 candidates of JDS and 9 out of 28 candidates of AAP have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.
Voting for the 224-member Karnataka Assembly will be held on May 10 and the counting of votes will take place on May 13.
