Kejriwal welcomed YSR Congress MP Magunta Sriniavasulu Reddy into Delhi liquor business

New Delhi, May 1 (). In its third supplementary charge sheet filed in the Delhi Excise Policy scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has mentioned that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal welcomed YSR Congress MP Maguntha Srinivasulu Reddy’s entry into the Delhi liquor business.

Raghava Magunta, son of Srinivasulu Reddy, was later arrested in the case.

Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, had meetings with Vijay Nair before and after the drafting and implementation of the policy, the ED said. Similarly, Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy also held a meeting with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, in which Kejriwal welcomed his entry into Delhi’s liquor business.

The ED alleged that though the manufacturers themselves should have taken this important decision as per their choice, the investigation revealed that Pernod Ricard, one of the largest manufacturers in the country and also the subject of the ongoing investigation, in fact Vijay Nair to give away his wholesale distribution business to accused Indo Spirits (L1 wholesaler), who was a part of the super cartel included in the prosecution complaint.

Further, the policy has evidence of manufacturers paying kickbacks through their wholesalers in lieu of the benefits of private retail introduction. Vijay Nair accepted a bribe of Rs 100 crore from a group on behalf of AAP leaders; For the sake of convenience it may be called the South Group (as stated in the statements of various persons recorded during the investigation), whose prominent members are Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, Raghava Magunta, Sarath Reddy and K Kavitha. The South group was represented by Abhishek Boinapalli, Arun Pillai and Buchi Babu. Abhishek Boinapalli, in collusion and conspiracy with Vijay Nair and his associate Dinesh Arora, facilitated the transfer of a bribe of Rs 100 crore.
