Lucknow, May 12 (). The Uttar Pradesh Madrassa Education Board (UPMEB) has permitted all institutions, whether registered or not, to conduct pre-primary classes in their premises.
Till now the board was silent on admission in pre-primary classes.
The decision was taken following reports that several madrassas were already running pre-primary classes on their campuses.
The board, however, clarified that the cost of such classes will have to be borne by the madrassa itself.
An order issued by the UPMEB registrar said it has been unanimously decided that pre-primary classes should be allowed in all madrassas.
At present, there are 16,513 recognized and over 7,500 unregistered madrassas in Uttar Pradesh.
The order further states that all arrangements including infrastructure, adequate teachers, security, education of students will be taken care of by the madrassas and the state will not provide any kind of funds.
UPMEB chairperson Iftikhar Ahmed Javed said, discussions are on to regularize the running pre-primary classes in madrassas from 2021, as hundreds of institutions were running classes due to parents’ demand. After much deliberation it was finally decided. It was decided to legalize pre-primary classes. The decision was unanimous.
