Guwahati, May 11 (). Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday termed CM Mamata Banerjee’s decision to ban The Kerala Story in West Bengal as wrong.
CM Sarma along with his cabinet colleagues and party leaders watched the film in Guwahati. Talking to reporters outside the cinema after watching the film, CM Sarma said, I cannot comment on what is happening in West Bengal. But I must say that banning this film will not serve its purpose.
The film is not against any community, it is against terrorism. The Kerala Story tells about the plot of a terrorist organization, and how even innocent Muslim girls can fall into their trap.
He said, I think whoever has decided to ban the film, it is a wrong decision. He has taken a stand with the notion that the film is against Muslims. However, it depicts the brutal conspiracy of terrorist organizations like IS. The Kerala Story is not against any community or religion.
The Chief Minister of Assam also suggested that those advocating a ban on the film should first watch The Kerala Story and then take a call.
Sarma also congratulated the makers of The Kerala Story and said that the film will guide children not to fall into the trap of terrorism and religious conversion.
He said that by watching this film people would be educated to lead a healthy social life. The Kerala Story depicts the true story of an innocent woman who has been exploited by disloyal organizations.
He said, what I have seen through real time interviews and social media posts is that Kerala is passing through difficult times. I urge the people of that state, irrespective of religion, to raise their voice against the use of innocent girls by terrorist organizations.
He said that the film exposed the conspiracy of terrorist organizations across the world and showed what is going on inside terrorist camps in the name of Jihad and religion.
