New Delhi, April 18 (). Despite not having sufficient numbers in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the BJP has decided to field candidates for the post of mayor and deputy mayor. BJP has announced to field Shakha Rai for the post of Mayor and Soni Pandey for the post of Deputy Mayor.
Rai and Pandey filed their nomination papers on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Delhi Pradesh BJP. It may be noted that today is the last date for filing nominations and polling will be held on April 26.
Shikha Rai is currently serving as the corporator from Greater Kailash-1 ward, while Soni Pandey represents Sonia Vihar ward in Northeast Delhi in the civic body.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday named Shelly Oberoi and Aale Mohammad Iqbal as its candidates for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor, respectively, for the upcoming elections to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
Seeing their performance in MCD, Delhi government, the Chief Minister and AAP’s National Convener Arvind Kejriwal decided to nominate both the office bearers again. Oberoi and Iqbal had filed their nominations on Monday.
