Noida, April 6 (). The Health Department will set up Mother-New Born Care Unit (MNCU) in collaboration with a company at ten health centers (CHC-PHC) of the district. Community Empowerment Lab (CEL) will have scientific and technical cooperation in the construction of MNCU. This information was given by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sunil Kumar Sharma.
The Chief Medical Officer informed that the low birth weight newborns would be admitted along with their mothers in the MNCU. In this, treatment will be given to these babies under the special care of the mother. Construction of MNCU wards at ten health centers in the district will reduce the infant mortality rate. Underweight children will be able to do their physical development by being admitted in the ward.
The health department has also prepared a list where these MNCUs will be made. In these, District Hospital, Community Health Center (CHC) Badalpur, Bhangel Community Health Center, Bisrakh Health Center, Dadri Health Center, Jewar Health Center, Dadha and Primary Health Center (PHC) Dankaur, Rubupura and Baraula Health Center will be included.
District Program Manager Manjeet Kumar told that the Memorandum of Understanding (agreement letter) will be signed this month itself. He informed that on behalf of the company, spot inspection of District Hospital, Sector 39, CHC Bhangel and PHC Barola has been done. Additional Chief Medical Officer (RCH) Dr. Bharat Bhushan said that delivery facility is available at 12 health centers including the district hospital in the district. Mother and new born care units will be set up at ten of these centres.
With the formation of MNCU, low birth weight newborns will be admitted along with their mothers, in which treatment will be available to the newborns under the special care of the mother. This will reduce the infant mortality rate. It may be noted that about 800-900 deliveries take place every month at government health centers in the district.
