Mumbai, June 5 (). Four Mumbai commuters, including the driver, had a narrow escape when a long and thick iron rod fell on a car passing under a Metro pole in Thane, Mumbai. Officials gave this information here on Monday.
At around 12.15 pm, Jitendra Yadav was going to Kolshet along with three other passengers from Teen Hath Naka area of Thane city in heavy traffic.
Suddenly an iron rod slipped from the hands of some laborers working upstairs near the BPCL petrol pump and fell on the roof of Yadav’s car.
The impact of falling rod like a missile was so powerful that the rod hit the roof of the car and fell barely a few inches away from the seat of victim Yadav and the other. Lucky everyone escaped safely.
This brought the car and other vehicles to a halt on the road while Wagle Estate police officers and a disaster management team rushed to the spot to inspect the rod accident. The rod was several feet long and a few inches thick and quite heavy.
An official said that the video of the chilling incident is going viral on social media. The vehicle was moved to one side while the rod was pulled out from the roof and further investigation is underway.
