Munger: A heartbreaking event in Bihar’s Munger district has shocked the community after an eight-year-old boy took his own life in his school hostel on Wednesday afternoon. The boy, named Sahil and son of Deepak Bind from Paukari village, was discovered hanging from a window in his hostel room. Police reported that Sahil’s mother had just dropped him off at the school in Krishna Bazaar, Haveli Kharagpur, only half an hour prior to the incident. Family members revealed that Sahil had a history of running away from the hostel, expressing a strong desire not to stay there.
Each time, his mother would bring him back, encouraging him to focus on his studies and “bring pride to the family.” Police indicated that on Monday morning, after being scolded by his mother for attempting to escape again, she left him at the school and headed home. Shortly afterward, Sahil entered the hostel and made the tragic decision. Teachers and hostel staff were left in shock upon discovering the boy. “We couldn’t believe what we saw,” remarked one teacher. He was quickly transported to a hospital in Haveli Kharagpur, where he was pronounced dead. The family is devastated. Sahil’s father, who works as a laborer in another state, was inconsolable upon hearing the news.
“He was our only son,” a relative said tearfully. The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and have begun an investigation. Officials mentioned that initial inquiries indicate emotional distress, but a thorough investigation is ongoing to ascertain if there was any negligence involved. This incident has prompted sorrow and contemplation within the local community, underscoring the pressures young children face in academic settings and the critical need for emotional support systems in schools.
