New Delhi: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a special postage stamp and a commemorative coin, which features the first-ever depiction of Bharat Mata on Indian currency, to celebrate the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The Rs 100 coin displays the national emblem on one side, while the other side showcases a majestic image of Bharat Mata in Varada Mudra with a lion, with swayamsevaks depicted bowing in devotion and dedication. Modi emphasized that this is the first time in independent India’s history that Bharat Mata’s image has appeared on Indian currency, marking a significant moment of pride and historical importance.
The coin also includes the RSS motto, “Rashtray Swaha, Idam Rashtraya, Idam Na Mama,” meaning “Everything is dedicated to the nation, Everything is the nation’s, Nothing is mine.” The postal stamp illustrates the participation of RSS swayamsevaks in the 1963 Republic Day Parade.
