New Delhi, May 24 (). A large number of protesters led by Olympian wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat gathered at India Gate on Tuesday demanding the arrest of Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
Brij Bhushan has been accused of sexually assaulting several young wrestlers, including minors.
The protesters, carrying the national flag, marched to India Gate, near Parliament House, accompanied by a large police force.
Addressing the crowd, Sakshi said, this is a fight for the daughters of India.
These wrestlers have been staging a sit-in at Jantar Mantar since April 23 demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan, who has been accused of sexual harassment by six women wrestlers, including a minor.
Based on the complaint of the wrestlers, the Delhi Police had registered two FIRs against the BJP MP last month. The police have also recorded statements of seven wrestlers, one of whom is a minor, and questioned Singh on allegations of sexual harassment.
No arrests have been made in both the cases so far.
