Lucknow, 20 April (). No religious gathering will be allowed on roads during the upcoming festivals of Eid, Akshaya Tritiya and Parshuram Jayanti in Uttar Pradesh.
All district authorities in the state have been directed to ensure that religious programs are conducted indoors and no person should be allowed to block roads.
Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad and Special Director General of Police (SDGP) Prashant Kumar issued instructions in this regard to all field officers like ADGs, Inspector Generals (IGs), Deputy IGs, District Police Chiefs, Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates (DMs). Have done
Prasad has said that all the officers in the field should ensure that the religious program is held at their designated place only.
He said, under no circumstances should any religious event be held by obstructing the road and traffic. In the past we have been able to do this through proper communication and coordination. This year also we have to make similar efforts.
The authorities have been asked to be vigilant against fake news or information being shared on social media and not to allow any religious procession for which prior permission has not been taken.
Prasad said, “Safety of citizens is our primary responsibility. Eid-ul-Fitr, Akshaya Tritiya and Parshuram Jayanti can be celebrated on the same day on 22 April. In view of the present environment, the police will have to be extra careful.
Special DGP Prashant Kumar suggested frequent police patrolling to strengthen law and order in the state. We should keep an eye on suspicious activities, he said. Every important event should be videographed. Notorious elements would be dealt with strictly, he added.
Director General of Police R.K. Vishwakarma also reviewed the preparations for the upcoming festivals by the circle, range and district officials.
