Patna: The political and personal strife within Lalu Prasad’s family escalated on Sunday when his daughter, Rohini Acharya, made new allegations against relatives, claiming she was mistreated, humiliated, and forced out of the household. Her statements followed her announcement of distancing herself from the family. In her second online message within an hour, Rohini alleged that she was called “dirty” and that she had transplanted her father’s “dirty kidney,” suggesting that “crores of rupees and tickets” were allegedly spent on the procedure. Rohini had donated a kidney to Lalu Prasad in 2022, receiving public admiration at that time.
With biting sarcasm, she suggested that married daughters should “never, even by mistake, save their father,” and instead allow a son or “a Haryanavi friend” to donate an organ if necessary. “All sisters and daughters should focus on their own homes, children, and in-laws,” she stated, emphasizing that women should “think only about themselves.” Reflecting on her decision to donate her kidney, she remarked, “I have committed a grave sin by not considering my family, my three children, and by not seeking permission from my husband or in-laws.
To save my father, my God, I did something that is now deemed dirty.” Her latest remarks followed an earlier post wherein she accused family members of verbally abusing her, attempting to strike her, and forcing her to leave her parents’ residence. “I did not compromise my self-respect or abandon the truth,” she noted. “Only because of this did I have to face humiliation. A daughter left her crying parents and sisters.” She claimed she had been “snatched” from her maternal home and “left orphaned,” expressing a hope that no family would have a daughter like her. The posts, filled with sorrow and regret, have intensified the tensions already affecting the RJD leadership following its electoral defeat.
Rohini recently accused key associates of Tejashwi Yadav of monopolizing decision-making and refusing to take responsibility for the party’s loss, leading to a public split that seems far from resolved.
