Patna, May 25 (). Police in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur have arrested a serial killer involved in three consecutive murders within 10 days. An officer gave this information.
Muzaffarpur SSP Rakesh Kumar said that the accused committed the crime only for a mobile phone and a few rupees. The accused used to target laborers and night guards with iron rods, wooden hammers and other tools.
The serial killer has been identified as Shivchand Paswan alias Bholwa. The accused committed the crime between April 30 and May 8 in Kolhua Paigambarpur area of Ahiyapur police station area.
The modus operandi of all the three murders was similar. The accused had attacked the laborers with wooden hammer or iron rod.
SSP Rakesh Kumar said that since the pattern of the three murders was similar and the person injured in the attack is still in the hospital, it did not help in the investigation. We deployed some policemen in civil dress in Kolhua Paigambarpur area and found out that a woman was selling mobile phones at cheap rates.
Several people bought mobile phones and one of them was caught by the local police. When we checked the details of the mobile phone, it was found that the phone belonged to one of the laborers killed a few days ago.
He further said, the mobile buyer revealed the identity of the woman who sold it. When we inquired with the woman, she disclosed that she used to buy mobiles from a person named Bholwa. Accordingly, we arrested the accused. On interrogation, the accused has accepted his crime.
