Kolkata, 20 April (). West Bengal Leader of Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari on Thursday challenged Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to file a court case against her if she has the courage to claim that Adhikari was trying to restore Trinamool Congress as a national party. Mamta had sought the intervention of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The official said that once the legal case is filed against him, he will be able to appeal to the court to make the Telecom Authority of India (TRAI) a party to the suit, so that between March 4, 2023 and April 12, 2023, the landline of the Chief Minister’s Office will be restored. Call details of the phone can be found.
Speaking to the media in the afternoon, the Leader of Opposition said, “I have already received a legal notice from the Trinamool Congress in this matter.” I want rather challenge the Chief Minister to file a legal case against me. In that case, I will be able to challenge it and appeal to the court to make TRAI a party so that the call details of their official landline numbers come to the fore.
There is a restriction on any person to get such details and hence as of now I am not able to get it through RTI and circulate it among media persons. So, I challenge them to file a legal case against me.
Addressing a public rally at Singur in Hooghly district on April 18, the officer had claimed that Mamata Banerjee called up Union Home Minister Amit Shah soon after the Election Commission of India (ECI) withdrew the national party status of the Trinamool Congress. Trinamool Congress requested to maintain the national party status till 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
On April 18, the official said, he had appealed to Amit Shah to maintain the Trinamool’s national party status till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, the Home Minister clearly told him that the decision of the Commission cannot be changed by him, as the ECI is an autonomous body.
In response to this, Mamta Banerjee told media persons on Wednesday that she is even ready to resign from the post of Chief Minister if her claim of calling the Union Home Minister is proved.
The Chief Minister said on Wednesday, I heard that on Tuesday a newly emerged person claimed in a public meeting that I had called their supreme leader Amit Shah four times after the Election Commission had withdrawn the national party status of Trinamool Congress . If they can prove it, I will resign from the post of Chief Minister. But if they can’t prove these allegations, will they keep rubbing their noses at the ground?
