Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh), March 31 (). A B.Com student of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been arrested for allegedly brutally stabbing his parents to death in Zakir Nagar area under Quarsi police circle.
A 38-second video clip that went viral on social media on Thursday shows a 20-year-old student brutally stabbing his parents to death inside a room in his rented house.
Neighbors gathered outside the window can be seen pleading the young man to spare his parents.
According to the police, the killer has been identified as Mohammad Ghulamuddin.
He had a fight with his father, 60-year-old Mohammad Ishaq, who was an imam in a mosque, and his 57-year-old mother, over some issue.
The argument took a violent turn when the youth, in a fit of rage, locked the door of the room from inside and attacked his parents with scissors, kitchen knife, hammer and iron.
Hearing the commotion, the neighbors rushed to the house and tried to stop him by shouting through the window, but to no avail.
Meanwhile, someone recorded the incident and uploaded it on social media.
On receiving information about the murder, the police reached the spot and arrested Ghulamuddin.
The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
According to the landlord Mohammad Salim, the family used to live in Rampur and came here for better education of their children. The deceased Ishaq and his wife were of very good nature. The young man is suffering from some mental problem.
Ghulamuddin has one brother and two sisters.
Aligarh SSP Kalanidhi Naithani told reporters, “The accused has been arrested and a forensic department team has been called to collect evidence.”
SHO of Quarsi police station Arvind Kumar said, Mehjabi, the daughter of the deceased couple, lodged a complaint with the police, following which a case was registered against the accused under section 302 of the IPC. He has been sent to jail.
