Patna, May 5 (). Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday questioned RJD President Lalu Prasad as to why the caste census was not conducted when he was in power for 15 years in Bihar. He said that the decision of caste census on June 6, 2022 was of the NDA government in which BJP was involved.
Responding to Lalu Prasad’s allegations, Modi said that not only during the 15-year RJD rule in Bihar, but also in half a dozen states including Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, where non-BJP governments are in power, why the caste census? Not done He said that Lalu Prasad should concentrate on his health instead of making unrestrained statements regarding the caste census.
Modi said that the BJP supported the caste census at every forum. We had earlier suggested making a law for this, but in his arrogance, Nitish Kumar did not accept it, due to which the government was defeated in the High Court.
He said that the Chief Minister had taken a similar arrogant stand on the BJP’s suggestion to set up a special commission to give reservation to the backward classes in the municipal elections, due to which the High Court had to stay the election process midway.
Modi said that at that time, under the pressure of the High Court, the report of the Most Backward Commission, formed in a hurry by the government, was also not made public. He said that on the issue of caste census and reservation for the most backward people, the devious move of the RJD-JDU government is being understood by the public.
Earlier, RJD President Lalu Prasad targeted the BJP by tweeting that the caste census is the demand of the majority of the people and it will continue to happen.
He further said that the one who is against caste enumeration is against equality, humanity, equality and a supporter of high-low, poverty, unemployment, backwardness, social and economic discrimination.
