Srinagar, April 29 (). The Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the Army, arrested a terrorist associate linked to banned outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) from Handwara in North Kashmir.
Security forces have recovered objectionable material and a hand grenade from his possession. Officials gave this information on Saturday.
According to the police, a joint team of Handwara Police and Army was carrying out routine checking at Ganai Mohalla Pajalpora Magam. During this, one person tried to escape from the joint team, but was cleverly caught by the security personnel.
On a search, a hand grenade and other incriminating material were recovered from his possession, police said. The person has been identified as Khurshid Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Amargarh Tarathpora.
Police said, preliminary investigation revealed that Bhat was working as a terrorist associate for banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed.
