Lucknow, June 4 (). Government doctors in Uttar Pradesh have been asked to prescribe only generic medicines to patients as per the new guidelines issued by the Medical Health Department.
Parthasarathi Sen Sharma, Principal Secretary, Health Department, listed the instructions in a circular issued on Saturday. All chief medical superintendents and directors of government hospitals have been asked to follow the orders issued.
The circular states that the working status of each equipment in the hospitals should be updated on the Care app every Monday. If the equipment does not work for a long time, the hospital will contact the additional director of the electrical wing. As soon as the CCTV circuit is in place, live monitoring of 108 hospitals in the state will start soon from the Integrated Command Control Center.
Sharma said that most of the medicines are available in the shops. Doctors will only prescribe generic medicines, even if they are not in stock with hospitals.
Explaining its importance, an expert said that generic drugs save patients money. Dr. Abhishek Shukla, general secretary of the Association of International Doctors, said that the cost of generic medicine is less.
Apart from this, the doctors will be subjected to monthly checks based on their specialty, the data of major and minor surgeries of patients in the outpatient wing will be uploaded on the Health Management Information System portal.
