Lucknow, April 27 (). The UP Special Task Force (STF) has arrested an alleged high-profile fraudster, who was posing as a person with links to the top BJP leadership. The accused has been arrested from Kanpur railway station.
Sources said that the accused Sanjay Rai used to post his photoshopped pictures with senior BJP leaders on social media and used to extort crores of rupees from people on the pretext of getting them to do work.
The accused was arrested when he was traveling from Ghazipur to Delhi in the Suheldev Express train. The action was taken after several politicians and businessmen complained against him.
A senior STF official said Rai was brought to Lucknow for questioning and sent to jail if the allegations were found true.
Another STF source said that the fraudster had also titled his Wi-Fi account at his home in Delhi as Prime Minister’s residence, claiming that he works closely with the PMO.
He has a bungalow in Delhi’s Safdarganj area and leads a high-profile lifestyle. He runs an NGO, Sanjay for Youth, whose tagline is to make the entire Ghazipur district self-employed.
