Bihar Sees High Voter Engagement: 67% Turnout in Final Phase

Patna: Bihar experienced significant voter turnout in the last phase of the 2025 Assembly elections on Tuesday, with a recorded participation rate of 67.14% by 5 pm, reflecting strong voter enthusiasm statewide. This final voting phase encompassed 122 assembly seats across 20 districts, determining the outcomes for 1302 candidates, including 12 ministers. From early morning, individuals gathered at polling stations to vote, creating long lines outside booths, where men, women, and elderly citizens awaited their turn. A notable number of first-time voters also participated, expressing excitement about engaging in the democratic process. The atmosphere at polling centers was vibrant with energy and optimism as voters shared their hopes for development, improved governance, and job opportunities.

The Election Commission implemented comprehensive arrangements to facilitate smooth voting at all polling stations. Enhanced security measures were established, with a substantial presence of police and central paramilitary forces. Monitoring was conducted using drones and CCTV cameras in sensitive areas, and special precautions were taken to avert any disturbances. Polling officials reported that the process was largely peaceful, with only minor technical difficulties encountered at a few booths. Additionally, the Election Commission ensured the availability of essential amenities such as drinking water, shade, and medical assistance for voters at polling sites. Efforts were made to guarantee a safe and accessible voting experience for all, especially for senior citizens and differently-abled individuals.

This final polling phase is anticipated to significantly influence the formation of Bihar’s next government. The state has undergone an active campaign in recent weeks, with leaders from all major parties conducting rallies and pledging change. With over two-thirds of voters participating, political analysts suggest that this high turnout signifies a strong demand for progress and effective governance.
