Bihar Women’s Commission to Look into Rohini Acharya's Assault Claims

Patna: The Bihar State Women’s Commission has announced it will address the accusations made by Rohini Acharya, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad, who has alleged assault by her brother, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, and two others. Apsara Mishra, chairperson of the Women’s Commission, stated that Rohini reported being “hit with slippers” and experiencing “humiliation and harassment” from her family. “Her anguish has been conveyed through posts and statements, but her family has not acknowledged it,” Mishra noted. The Commission confirmed that if Rohini submits a formal complaint, they will act promptly. Additionally, Mishra indicated that the Commission could take action suo motu if the circumstances worsen, demonstrating its willingness to step in independently should the harassment escalate.

These allegations emerged a day after the RJD suffered a significant loss in the Bihar Assembly elections on November 14. The following day, Rohini announced on Twitter her decision to exit politics and cut ties with her family. In her remarks, she identified Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, close associates of Tejashwi Yadav, asserting that they pressured her and were accountable for her mistreatment. That evening, she departed her home appearing visibly upset. Rohini told reporters, “I have no family. They are the ones who expelled me.

The entire world is questioning why the party has reached this point, yet they refuse to accept responsibility.” She further alleged that Tejashwi Yadav’s associates threatened her with physical harm if she inquired about the party’s matters.
