Hyderabad: The Mumbai Meteors triumphed over the Goa Guardians with scores of 15-8, 15-8, 16-14, securing their place in the final of the Prime Volleyball League (PVL) 2025 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, on Friday. Shubham Chaudhary earned the title of Player of the Match. Mumbai will face the winner of the second semifinal between the Bengaluru Torpedoes and the Ahmedabad Defenders. Goa began strong with Nathaniel Dickinson’s spike and Rohit Yadav’s powerful serve. However, Goa struggled defensively against the relentless attacks from Mumbai’s Shubham Chaudhary and Amit Gulia. Although Dickinson’s spike allowed Goa to win a super point, Mumbai’s well-organized formation gave them the advantage.
Prince attempted to mount a counter-attack for Goa from the middle, but Karthik’s performance ensured stability for Mumbai. Shubham’s strategic play reduced errors for Mumbai. Goa adjusted their formation by introducing setter Aravind in hopes of shifting momentum. L.M. Manoj’s super serve provided a brief celebration for the Guardians. However, an overhit shot from Prince cost Goa a super point, allowing Mumbai to take a two-set lead. Amit’s super serve maintained Mumbai’s dominance while intensifying the pressure on Goa. In the third set, Petter Ostvik outperformed Prince in the middle, allowing Mumbai to assert control. Vikram secured a super point, igniting hope among Goa supporters.
Just when it seemed Goa might rally, Karthik blocked Chirag Yadav’s spike, ensuring Mumbai’s victory and their advancement to the final.
