Bengaluru, May 18 (). Former Prime Minister of India HD Deve Gowda is celebrating his 90th birthday on Thursday. Karnataka Chief Minister-designate Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar wished HD Deve Gowda on his birthday.
Siddaramaiah said that hearty birthday wishes to former Prime Minister and senior Janata Dal leader HD Deve Gowda. I wish him good health and happiness. May he continue to guide us to protect the interests of Kannadigas and our land, water and language.
At the same time, Shivakumar said that birthday wishes to former PM Deve Gowda. His steps in national and state politics are an inspiration for us. May God bless him with health and age.
Caretaker Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai also made a personal phone call to JDS national president Deve Gowda and wished him on his birthday.
HD Deve Gowda turned 90 on 18 May. Known as the son of the soil, Deve Gowda is the only politician from Karnataka who saw a tremendous rise in politics and became the Prime Minister of the country.
A strong believer in Hindu traditions, Deve Gowda is still active in politics and campaigned across the state in the recently concluded assembly elections. He challenged the national parties and declared before the elections that there is no Modi wave in the state.
The JDS could win only 19 seats in the Karnataka assembly elections, dashing Deve Gowda’s hopes of making his son HD Kumaraswamy the kingmaker.
Deve Gowda still remains the most influential politician in the state and a revered figure of the Vokkaliga community. He rose above caste and also emerged as the leader of the people.
